I’m 32 this year and with 2 young children, the expenses every month are hefty. Education, insurance, groceries - just milk alone, my milk guzzlers consume 7 litres of fresh milk every 5 days.
I haven’t really thought about how much I need for my retirement until the children came along. I also did not know how much I needed until I gave @aiasingapore Retirement Calculator a try at www.aia.com.sg/retirement. I put in a rough estimate of cash deposits, investments and monthly savings and it’s possible compound interest and AIA calculated how much I would need more for retirement. Looks like I still need quite a substantial amount for my retirement - which is very important to me because I believe in being financially independent. I want to be able to live comfortably, travel leisurely even when I have stopped working at 65.
Give the calculator a try and see how much more we need to work, and how we can make our money work for us to reach our retirement goal.
